Meetings

Due to the number of NHS members in comparison to the size of my classroom, I will communicate with members via the NHS Newsletter again this year.  Listen to the daily announcements and occasionally you will need to stop by my room to pick up a newsletter.  Please sign in when you stop by so that I can give you credit for stopping by.  Each sign in equals 1 service point.

Remind

This year I will be using Remind to send messages to NHS members and NHS parents keeping you updated with the most important information concerning the National Honor Society.

To subscribe to this feature you will simply need to complete one of the following steps:

  1. Text @nhsinfo to 81010

  2. Download the Remind app and join @nhsinfo

Tutors

WHS often depends on NHS students to serve as tutors for other students.  If you are interested in tutoring students for service hours please see me ASAP to put your name on the list.  I try to keep a list of tutors on hand so that when a tutor is requested I have a list to pull from.  Dr. Fulmer, the Guidance Department, parents and teachers often ask for tutors on behalf of other students.

Service Points

Each member must obtain 20 service points per year.  If you have a deficit from previous years you will need to obtain those points in addition to the required 20 points for this year.

Seniors: Points must be up to date in order to graduate wearing the NHS stole.

New Inductees:  The 6 points required for induction must be completed before leaving for Christmas Break.  Don’t forget to turn those in and if you have questions please ask.

Dues

Annual dues are $7 and need to be paid as soon as possible.  New inductees do not have to pay this amount – it was included in your initial dues!

Demerits

Please keep up with your demerits.  At the end of each nine week period your demerit total, for that nine week period, must be 5 or less in order to avoid probation or dismissal.
